Cher Lloyd dropped her first single since 2018, titled "M.I.A," on Friday (Oct. 11).
The infectious new song recounts the singer's time at a bad party, where she asks someone she has her eye on to run away with her. "Let's make a quick getaway/ This party's shit anyway," she sings, offering an invitation: "You and I could be somewhere catching waves/I say, 'Hi,' now let's go M.I.A."
In the accompanying video, Lloyd and her dancers, clad in outfits from the British pop star's recently-announced clothing line, dance around in a tropical outdoor space and neon-lit laundromat.
"This song is a mood, it’s about capturing a feeling," Lloyd tells Billboard. "I wanted the video to mirror exactly that. I wanted the vibe to feel playful, expressive and fun. Every look gives a great insight into who I am and my personality."
"M.I.A" is Lloyd's lead single off her upcoming third studio album, which will be her first collection of songs to be released since 2014's Sorry I'm Late.
"I've written for so long that I now have so many songs I love and feel should be heard," she teases.
Cher Lloyd was first launched into the pop music scene with her 2012 hit "Want U Back," which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
