Oct 18 The 10 Best Moments From The Chainsmokers' Explosive Brooklyn Show

Thousands of fans gathered to see Lennon Stella, 5 Seconds of Summer, and The Chainsmokers perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night (Oct. 17) for the highly-anticipated 14th stop on the World War Joy North American fall tour.

The almost four-hour spectacle included stunts, lasers, hypnotic graphics, guest performances, and showstopping songs.

After a 30-minute set from up-and-coming pop artist Stella, which included a magnetic performance of her hit single "Bitch," pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage for a 16-song show. The Australian quartet, consisting of frontman Luke Hemmings, guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin, rocked the stage with hit singles like "She Looks So Perfect" and "Youngblood."

However, screams from the crowd were loudest when the lights went down for the main act: the electronic group formed by Drew Taggart and Alex Pall. Their 90-minute set not only showcased the duo's chart-topping hits like "Closer" and "Something Just Like This," but also hyped the crowd up with intermittent motorcycle tricks, dance battles, and explosive drum solos.

Below are the top ten highlights of the spectacular show, in chronological order.

1. Hood's emotional "Amnesia" introduction

After announcing that he's having a "really good fucking time up here," the 5SOS bassist introduced each of his bandmates to the crowd, calling them his "brothers." Hood even called Hemmings "one of the greatest lead men I've ever known." Before moving on to performing their song "Amnesia," Hood thanked the fans in the crowd who have stuck by the band for eight years, requesting that the crowd sing the lyrics as loud as they can.

2. Irwin's inspirational "Waste The Night" speech

Before playing "Waste The Night," a song from 5SOS's second album Sounds Good Feels Good, Irwin shared that the Brooklyn show was the one he'd been waiting for. "The world can take fucking everything from us, but they can't take what we do on stage," the drummer announced to the crowd. "We want to give you every single thing we have."

3. Stella and 5SOS's guest performances

The Chainsmokers kicked off their 16-song set by inviting Stella up on stage to perform their collaboration "Takeaway." Later on in the night, the electronic duo brought out 5SOS to sing "Who Do You Love." The six friends danced together during the performance, and Taggart called 5SOS his "favorite band."

4. Electronic twists on classic hits

On top of their own smash hits, The Chainsmokers threw short, electronic versions of classic songs into their set, including "Under The Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Shout" by The Isley Brothers.

5. Unreleased "Push My Luck"

Taggart and Pall performed an unreleased song of theirs, "Push My Luck," which they said wasn't able to be released in time for the tour. Although Taggart admitted he was nervous, he confidently sang lyrics like, "I think I might push my luck with you/'Cause you say that you've got nothing else to do."

6. A surprise appearance by Sheck Wes

The crowd went wild when in the middle of the show, rapper Sheck Wes joined The Chainsmokers onstage for a quick performance of his single "Mo Bamba."

7. Taggart performed from new heights

Throughout the show, Taggart sang on top of many precarious surfaces, including a ladder, on top of a metal "X," and even inside of a giant, floating, metal hamster ball. The band's drummer, Matt McGuire, also dangerously showcased his skills by presenting a drum solo on top of an elevated platform -- all while green lasers shot from behind him.

8. The Urias Family Daredevils

During the songs "Hope" and "Something Just Like This," The Urias Family Daredevils, a motorcycle stunt group, earned screams from fans as they dangerously spun their bikes on the catwalk and drove against the walls of the giant hamster ball.

9. The cutest dance battle

At every Chainsmokers show, the duo pull someone from the crowd to dance battle against Taggart. Thursday night's competitor was the cutest -- a little boy with impressive moves -- who won!

10. A grand "Closer" finale

After an emotional speech about their humble beginnings in Murray Hill, the duo performed their last song: their Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit "Closer." They started off by slowing down the track, letting Taggart's vocals shine over Pall's piano, and then ended the show with a bang -- speeding up the track, shooting off fireworks, and firing confetti into the crowd.
