Oliver Malcolm has signed with Darkroom/Interscope Records, Billboard can exclusively announce today (Oct. 28).
The 20-year-old singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who has moved between the UK and Los Angeles since he was 16 years old, has recently made a name for himself as a self-taught producer.
Malcolm's first production credit was for the 2017 song "Pizza Shop" by Maryland rapper IDK featuring MF Doom. He also co-produced IDK's "Lil Arrogant" featuring Joey Bada$$, released in 2018. He has since worked with artists like Cee Lo Green, Jay Rock, Tinashe, Ari Lennox, and AlunaGeorge.
By signing to Darkroom/Interscope records -- the team that broke Billie Eilish -- Malcolm hopes to further develop his voice and career as an artist. Additionally, he wants to continue to break down the walls between genres and release music that is wholly his own.
“Oliver Malcolm is an incredibly talented artist and producer, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Darkroom & Interscope teams," said Joie Manda, executive vice president of Interscope Records. "He has a unique vision for developing himself as an artist, which will make for a very exciting next chapter for his career.”
“I love Oliver so much, and am so stoked that he is joining us at Darkroom/Interscope," added Darkroom founder Justin Lubliner. "He’s a great person and such an amazing talent. He’s going to be a force, so keep an eye out."
