Jacquemus' SS19 Menswear is a Mediterranean Dream

On a secluded beach near Marsielle, France, French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus unveiled his first menswear collection for spring 2019. The presentation emulated his coastal designs, as models walked down a sand runway in front of splashing waves inhabited by boats and swimmers.
Jacquemus' collection was influenced by his local, South of France upbringing. "I grew up here, with those men in blue tracksuits, matching blue bags and hats, all light blue,” he said. The Mediterranean inspiration was clear, as pieces were dominated by warm shades of the sun and sea. Knit sweaters, hoodies, polos, suit jackets, and canvas tunics were showcased in multiple hues of red, yellow, orange, and blue. Bright sunflower and wheat prints dominated both buttoned shirts and swimwear.
Jacquemus strived to make his first collection not only the perfect balance of unique and simple, but also affordable for the everyday man. With prices half of the women's collection, he is certainly making his brand more accessible.
